Privacy policy

This page explains which personal data we process when you visit this website, for what purpose and on what legal basis. The website is built so that as little data as possible goes to other providers: fonts are hosted on our own server, we fetch Instagram posts ourselves, and music services such as YouTube or Spotify are only linked, not embedded.

2. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by Host Europe GmbH, Hansestraße 111, 51149 Cologne, Germany, on our behalf. With every request, the server automatically stores: IP address, date and time, the address requested, referrer URL, browser and operating system. We need this data to deliver the website and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We do not combine this data with other data; the log files are deleted automatically after a short time.

The connection to the website is encrypted via HTTPS.

3. Cookies and consent

On your first visit, a window asks whether we may use visitor statistics (section 4). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

Without your consent, we only store what is technically necessary (§ 25 (2) TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR):

  • grav-site-…: session cookie of the website system, deleted when you close your browser
  • DSGVO_starmusic: stores your choice in the cookie window in your browser storage (localStorage) until you clear it; this entry is not sent to us

4. Visitor statistics with Matomo

Only if you consent do we use Matomo to measure which pages are visited and how often. Matomo does not run at a third-party provider but on a server of our web agency site-works AG, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Str. 10, 60329 Frankfurt am Main, acting on our behalf. IP addresses are stored in shortened form (the last two parts are removed), so they cannot be traced back to you. The data is not passed on to third parties.

Matomo sets these cookies: _pk_id.* (13 months), _pk_ses.* (30 minutes), _pk_ref.* (6 months) and _pk_testcookie.* (a few seconds). The legal basis is your consent (§ 25 (1) TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time via the cookie settings.

5. Contact form and enquiries

When you write to us via a form, we process your first name, last name, email address and message, and optionally your company, phone number and the act you are interested in. The enquiry is sent by email to kontakt@star-music.de and also stored on our web server. We use the data only to answer your enquiry and to prepare a possible booking. The legal basis is the initiation of a contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We delete the data once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. The same applies if you contact us by email or phone.

6. Spam protection with Google reCAPTCHA

To prevent our forms from being misused by bots, we use reCAPTCHA Enterprise from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. reCAPTCHA is only loaded once you click into a form. From then on, Google uses characteristics such as IP address, browser, mouse movements and time on the page to check whether a human is filling in the form, and may set the cookie _GRECAPTCHA for this purpose. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protection against spam and misuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). More information: Google privacy policy

7. Newsletter with CleverReach

For our newsletter we need your first and last name and your email address. After signing up you receive an email with a confirmation link; you are only subscribed once you click it (double opt-in). Sign-up and confirmation are logged with time and IP address so that we can prove your consent. The newsletter is sent on our behalf by CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Schafjückenweg 2, 26180 Rastede, Germany. CleverReach evaluates for us whether a newsletter was opened and which links were clicked, so that we can improve the newsletter.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the end of every issue or by emailing us. We will then delete your data from the mailing list.

8. Videos from Vimeo

The videos on this website are hosted by Vimeo.com, Inc., 330 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001, USA. They are loaded as video files directly from Vimeo's servers, without the Vimeo player and without Vimeo cookies. Most videos only load when you click play; the title video on the home page and the short preview videos at the top of the artist profiles start automatically on larger screens. When a video loads, Vimeo receives your IP address and technical information about your browser. Vimeo is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in fast, reliable delivery of our videos (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). More information: Vimeo privacy policy

9. Instagram posts and links to social networks

We show our latest Instagram posts without your browser connecting to Instagram: our server fetches the posts from Meta and stores the images with us. Only when you click on a post does Instagram open, and then the Instagram privacy policy applies.

We only link to Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud and other platforms. Data is only sent to these providers when you click such a link.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)).

Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).

An informal email to kontakt@star-music.de is sufficient. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Wiesbaden.

11. Storage period

We only store personal data for as long as is necessary for the respective purpose or required by law, for example commercial and tax retention periods. The periods for individual cookies are listed in sections 3, 4 and 6.

12. Changes

We adapt this privacy policy when the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies.
